Because everyone keeps asking, and because we have another sexy new camera, we played around with video today, shut off the pumps, and did a little walk around a couple of our raceways...Kind of gives you an idea of how much coral a 30 foot long raceway can hold...and we have 6 of 'em! The yellow glowing line you see in the frame is the fluorescent shop lights that illuminate our warehouse...Annoying, so future, edited videos will be shot with the lights out!

Welcome to our "office"

Enjoy!

Aww, it won't play on my phone! I'll have to borrow Mom's computer and come back later.

Sweeet! Any idea on how many corals you have?

70 Gajillion...!

No, actually, including frags, it's around 4,000 or so pieces...a LOT of corals..Several hundred different species. Every day is a discovery, actually. When our friends like Jake Adams or Tony Vargas stop by, they're always finding something that we never knew was there! Pretty cool to go on "safari" in our raceways!

Wow nice video! Thanks for sharing

Thanks! It's a bit crude still; we're just getting our feet wet with this stuff, but it's fun to play with. We hope to shoot more, including Joe and I talking about different stuff!

I'm Jealous!

I can't see the video either from my phone? The link takes me to a m2v file....how are you guys seeing this? What video player?

Thanks for posting :) very nice. I have a question for you: I have always read that using egg create in your system will raise the Phosphate levels in your tank. If anyone would know if this is true or not, it ought to be you with all that egg create in that raceway.

Maybe using EGGS could do it, LOL. I think maybe someone implied that egg crate could trap detritus or something, which could lead to accumulations of phosphate? I've never heard this theory, and quite frankly, phosphate is not an issue for us! So, my anecdotal observations would tell me that this theory is not applicable to us...LOL

(OK, I really wanted to say that it's one of the most bizarre correlations I've ever heard...LOL )

Just giving you a hard time!

Scott

You know what occurred to me? Eggcrate possibly COULD raise phosphate, depending on how it's made. There have been reports of trash cans used for storing RODI water leaching phosphates (Brute brand, specifically), and they are made of a plastic sort of material as well.

Just a guess, but something to consider...
