That is a good argument but I think nitrogen would be used first since it is so abundant on earthThe first lifeforms on earth where likely bacteria that consumed chemicals from deep sea vents. These are inorganic chemicals that the bacteria would process in chemosynthesis.

No wonder its so tough. At least I dont get any in my tank, only diatoms it seems.Cyano bacteria is considerd the first life form I believe.
It's why we look for evidence of it on planets and comets.
It's evolution and later development of both stony skeletons and photosynthesis both paved the way for development of eyes, and bone building and pushed oxygen into the planets atmosphere allowing a huge bloom of life as oxygen is easier to use.
