well ive been trying to nurse my tank back to health after the pest control guy came normally its the same guy and he knows not to go in my fishroom or anywhere near my tank. well a different guy cam while i was at work and sprayed the entire basement including around my sump and stands and my skimmer air intake. i noticed all this the next day my tank was extremly cloudy and i had almost no polyp extension from almost any coral. well ive done a number of decent sized waterchanges and been skimming on the wet side i havent wanted to mess with any of the dying corals for hope of them some how surviving. my question i have a few sps the are RTN from the bottom up should i pull these corals and cut them and try and save some or should i leave them be and just count the deaths so far i lost a sun coral, pocilipora, pink zoas, and all but 1 or 2 sps. i found a canister filter with a mix of carbon a phosban media should i clean the media and throw it on my tank? what would yall do. on a plus i dont have ne slime alge on my sand ne more

Once SPS start RTN'ing, I think they continue until they are completly dead, I would definitly frag the good stuff off. I would also run carbon and continue doing water changes.

Sorry to hear about your tank problems.

I can not advise you on what to do with the corals other then agree, frag the good parts, and do WC's and run carbon, and a real angree call to your pest service,, and to the normal guy for not giving a heads up to is vacation replacement if he knew who was covering his clients, and some signs up by you in the area that you donot want treated.

normally i stay home for any visit because my normal guy was looking at my tanks way back when he started and put his had on the top rim of my fuge tank were i keep my 5-7 inch lion and he was hungry and since i hand feed he likes fingers. i happened to look over just in time lol but yeah there will be permanant signs up from now on

Definitely frag what you can and make sure you get only healthy tissue. If you get any part that's still RTNing on the frag, it will just continue to do so. Sorry to hear about this!

This sucks, I would be out for blood. The pest guy should know better than to spray around any thing living. If you had a dog or cat in the room, I hope he wouldn't spray around them. Something for me to remember, I will be posting signs this evening when I get home from work.

+1 on what everyone else said. skim, carbon, and water changes. i did have an sps with RTN completely recover once, so there is hope. but from everything i've read, its best to frag off the healthy parts and just cross your fingers. good luck.

Definately continue with the WC's. +1 on fragging what you can. That really sucks, and you would think common sense would have kicked in.

Wow, bummer. You would think they would have put something "in the system" to prevent this from happening. Just a simple note like "stay out of fish room". Then anyone who would happen to pull that job would know.
Hopefully you can salvage something. Keep doing the WCs, skimming, fragging and running the carbon(keep it fresh too). Hopefully you can salvage things.

dude, it coudn't be any worse

These chemicals are designed to kill invertebrates. Not good news for your corals. I would do several more water changes and cut off any dead parts. You can also glue over dead part. I would suggest doing the spraying yourself next time.

yeah no more pest guys getting any money from me and trust me they got a very angry call well the toll this morning 3-4'' green slimer, 1'' deep water acro, 13 branch red millie, 2 colonies of porcalipora,8 polyps of my sun coral ( still has a couple of small polyps left), 5 pink zoas 1 has started to open back up, ive also lost countless snails and my six line wrasse. and all my macro algea 9 wouldnt be a big deal but i use my 75 gal tank thats plumbed to this system as a huge fuge tank with my lion in there there is only 1 cave for him he used to hunt in the calurpa but its all gone now.only good i see is there will be plenty of realestate up for grabs. i just wish this hadnt happened so close to our frag swap. im to scared to get anything for my tank for a while. but i will still be getting some goodies for my boss so i will atleast get to have some fun. and sorry for my rambling this just realy upsets me my tank has been through so much and recently has been looking amazing then death urg so very frustrating.

A couple options for the frag swap. 1, ask a local member or two to donate an unwanted frag to test the waters and see if you can take new corals, or 2, have a friend hold on to your purchases until you are comfortable dropping them in.
