I joined a bit over a year ago. Not long ago I looked through my posts and realized I never made an introductory post so I’m doing so now.

Since many new people read other introductory threads hopefully they’ll see this. R2R is the best forum I’ve ever been on, for ANY hobby. Every once in a while one encounters a bad apple but generally people here really are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I wouldn’t say it if it wasn’t true. I’ve gotten great advice and still do. One person even gifted me a RO/DI unit recently. People here care. When people have a system crash I see people here coming to their aid and helping them restart. People here don’t tend to be judgey. That fact alone puts R2R head and shoulders above the rest in my book.

I currently have a 90 gallon cube. I was fortunate enough to get it for 75 bucks. The 30 gallon tank I use as a sump/fuge was found in the trash. My light is a 400W metal halide lamp. It was a high bay light that I took apart and modified a bit so I could keep the reflector and lamp in the canopy and the ballast in a cabinet I’m building to house anything electrical. It’ll also hold controllers and monitors down the road. Believe it or not, despite the lamp being mounted base up and the reflector being shaped like it is I get full coverage of light in my 29” x 29” x 25” cube. My build thread has some pictures and soon I’ll post a video or two of my system.

I have some xenia, GSP, iron oxide zoanthids, a Kenya tree, some watermelon mushrooms, and some duncans. I will be adding more LPS corals soon too. Once my rocks are covered coralline algae I’ll be adding SPS. Technically it’s going to be a mixed reef but it’ll be LPS and SPS dominant.

My fish are two 11 year old clownfish. One is an ocellaris clownfish and the other is a black clownfish. I’ve had them for a year and change. I have two yellow tailed blue damsels as well. There are two Mexican turbo snails, about a dozen hermit crabs, and two peppermint shrimp. I’ll be adding more fish and coral over time.

If you made it this far I appreciate it. I get long winded as some of you undoubtedly know but I’m working on that.

Thanks for being here, for being a part of the community, and good luck with your roofing adventure!

I'm glad you are here! The stand looks like it will be really nice.

And for your late introduction.... :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Hi Fishy888 and Welcome! Glad you made the time to introduce yourself. CONGRATS on scoring such great equipment for such great prices - others will be inspired by you (I am too!)

I feel like I got to know you by reading your above, so (hugs) thank you! I wouldn't be true to myself if I didn't paste the below links... though I think you already know both (LOL)

This might help you find people local to you: in Decatur

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

Welcome to the meets and greets!!

@Fishy888, well said and welcome even if a bit late. When I joined, just a few days before you, the Hello thread really made me feel at home. It hasn't changed. This really is the best and friendliest forum for any interest that I have been on.

A belated:
