A technique for safely skipping quarantine for some frags?

Can I get fresh-cut frags off branching and plating corals and not worry about use of a QT procedure if I do a Bayer pesticide dip? I connot imagine how hitchhikers can live on the surface of a healthy piece of coral. I guess this would go for all hitchhikers that the Bayer dip will not touch such as hydroids, aiptasia, ich (any stage of development), etc. Any credit to this claim?

Has anyone ever found eggs on the surface of the corals themselves? It is more likely that eggs would be laid within the rock of a frag plug, still that does not mean they could not be implanted on the surface of a coral. I guess the Bayer pesticide dip would not take care of eggs?

Most of the vendors I have talked to recommend a strict quarantine regimen. Remember what they say over and over in this hobby...nothing good ever happens fast in a reef.

Does anyone know of vendors or growers that pre-quarantine everything that is put into their systems? I have heard of one company that keeps corals in a system without fish so that ich isn't pass along. Still, that is only one of many pests that can be brought in from a new frag.

While most aquacultured corals are much less likely to carry pests than wild or maricultured corals, most owners of aquaculture facilities still recommend quarantine anyway as an all around precaution. It's just a part of our hobby that sucks. On the bright side, it makes it that much sweeter when we get to finally place them in our display tanks.

There seems to be a catch-22 with every single method vs lengthy quarantine.

There is still a chance a flat worm or spider may survive the dipping process.I have seen those on healthy tissue.
