A Turkey Baster: How important is it in reefing?

I use it all the time. I'm also completely annoyed when my wife borrows it for her Betta fish tank and doesn't tell me. The time wasted looking for a $2 piece of plastic!

I have 5 laying around. I would buy a couple for her so she would leave mine alone. Like you said...$2.

I use one daily to feed frozen foods with. Somestimes ill dust around the rocks with it, very handy.

It's not made for reefing but it has many benefits for those of us keeping aquariums. It feeds, blasts, sucks and more but is it as important to you as it is others? It's cheap enough but are there better tools for the tasks that the turkey baster can accomplish? Who even cares? HA! I hope you do! Let's talk about it today!

I dust off my rocks and sand before cleaning, feed corals with it, and suck out algae or loose aptasia with it

I use one everyday. My bullet goby likes to bury my corals in sand and I need to clear them once or twice a day. But hey, at least the sand is clean!

I would replace the goby with snails or a sand-sifting star if you don't want the extra work.
If you don't mind though, gobies are cool. They got lots of personality and real issues. I had a diamond goby who would pile sand in heaps and rearrange the tank to his liking.

-Yes

- blowing off slime algae, stirring up the sand bed, filling up my feeding container to thaw frozen food. Mixing salt the settles at the bottom of my mixing station. Clearing out detritus in the sump when the baffles start to clog.

I had to glue the plastic tube to the rubber bulb because I use/abuse it so much.

Have one - use it often. Used to feed frozen food. Use it to point feed my corals. And of course use it to blow out detritus. - It will never touch a turkey. The wife thinks that when I am looking in a Kitchen store...I am actually looking for something for the kitchen - Ha! We reefers know better ... Is there something here that I can use for my reef tank?

I use it all the time as well and get irritated every thanksgiving and have to go the kitchen to find it

I use mine to both clean off sediment on rocks and stuff but also when acclimating new fish to the tanks...

So do I makes perfect sense , especially the part about acclimating new fish

I have a Julian sprungs thing that I use for the same things a turkey baster is used for.

????? When you buy a new fish , float the bag in the sump or display and with the baster slowly add tank water to bag !

Duh! I was thinking you must do something entirely outside the box. I use a measuring cup but will use the baster going forward!

Regular turkey baster to relocate the mountains that the Diamond Goby creates and a long reach, fine tip for blowing off the corals, RFA’s and rocks. The Goby keeps my sand Snow White but I have to level it daily.

I have 3 LOL. One for my main DT, another for my 25 Lagoon and one that the bulb is kind of lost it's flexibility and I refuse to throw it away.....just in case.

I have one, and I need to get a couple more!!

The one that I have has a soft silicone tip, I removed the bulb and connected a small silicone hose to the end and it's been used as a vacuum to clean brown crap from the rocks on my ugly tank, its not super fast but I have enough flow to remove what the tip is moving, I can even clean around my little zoa frags thanks to the super soft tip and the slow flow!

Between my 3 small snails and removing as much crap as possible every water change the tank is getting better!

Where’d you get all those? I need some longer ones. Mines too short and gives me cramps.
