This showed up in my "rubble cup" that I keep rubble in to glue frags to when I don't like their plug. Or I put stray mushrooms or xenia in the cup so the can anchor to something. I don't have any bubble algae in the tank whatsoever nor have I ever had bubble algae, so I don't think it's bubble algae. And that was the only one I saw. It is now out of the tank so, threat or not, it's not... unless it grows back from the base of where it got plucked from.
I'm not "worried" per say, more just curious what it could be.
Inhabitants are:
Mimic tang 3.5"ish
Tangaroa goby 2"ish
Pistol shrimp >2"ish
3 or 4 hermits mostly red legged but maybe a blue legged
1 Astrea snail
1 nassarus snail
1 Emerald crab (mia for 2 months, but not the first time he's pulled a Houdini)
Probably probably >20 different kinds of LPS, SPS, softies & leathers.

Headphone plug for scale lol

This just picked off, like a grape from a vine. Plucked right off.

That species ime tends to branch off of its self. Makes manual removal slightly easier. Does lend to spreading if you let one of the loosely attached bubbles find another home.

I had good luck spot treating with h2o2 outside the tank in a syringe. And scrubbing with a tooth brush.
If get it early its not too hard to get rid of.

I would manually remove them whenever you find them. If they start to proliferate, you might want to consider treating the tank with Vibrant. There are a number of threads on here where people report good luck with it taking care of bubble algae and other kinds of algae as well.

That was literally the only spot I've ever seen in the tank. Cross my fingers I don't have more pop up

I have been seeing them pop up in my tank I just take the rocks out and scrub them because I don't want the bubbles to pop in tank and spread more. They say emerald crabs take care of bubble algae. I like the manual way.
