Hey everyone,
There seems to be a problem regarding a toxic green trumpet coral I bought and a bunch of palys. It is a very.....unique situation.....
A few weeks ago, I bought a frag plug with a trumpet coral on it, and it had two small Captain Jack Palys on it as well. At first I figured, "oh, that's great! This should be a nice addition." Now, I'm realizing the problem with such a frag plug.
I have no idea how to solve this: The palys are overgrowing and have used the skeleton of the trumpet as their rock. I can't simply remove them, as this would damage the trumpet coral's skeleton. At this point, the situation is bad for both corals. The trumpets are constantly irritated, and the palys are closed and keep getting stung. However, being palythoas, the palys continue to outgrow the trumpet. It's simply is not a good situation for either coral. I don't have much of a solution to this, so was hoping to be offered advice, and how to safely separate the corals without damaging either.
Thanks!
