I got myself a WD frag, and it's started growing some, but it it looks more like @SeaDweller 's first frag. (actually looks worse because I run ATI Coral plus T5s and only run a not-so-great LED at night, but whatever)

Is it common for a WD frag to start out kind of bland, and then slowly grow out into something special, like @SeaDweller 's pictures?

i only have experience with two WD frags. They’re both Big R, but one I KNOW came from a source that I trust more. My first frag was greenish: greenish polyps, corallites... pretty bland. But it’s expected as the frag is healing and in transition into a new system. As months went by and it cooked, it developed into typical WD coloration.
my second frag came from a colony that had optimal coloration from @Coral Euphoria in which I believe the best coloration and health came from his MH/LED lighting combo. So fortunately I still see typical Big R WD coloration in his frag.
I don’t care what any one says, a properly colored WD is stunning. This isn’t a “trick lighting” tenuis that needs blue light to look good... no. If you see a properly colored and conditioned WD in real life... it’s bad ahss.

What is your light cycle? T5 during day, LED at night........ do you have a dark period? I don’t know your setup, but I’d assume T5 + LED at same time, 8-12 hours a day, is the way to go

Are you able to turn off your flow, turn the white lights on and take a photo from the top. It’s really not difficult to identify Walt Disney, if you’re ale to get a good photo,

That is not a BigR Walt Disney. The BigR Walt Disney is an Acropora Tenuis. I'm not sure what you have there, but it is not a Tenuis. Here is a pic of a BigR Walt Disney frag that I recently sold and the colony it came from for comparison.

The picture on the vendor site appears to be A. Tenuis, but it does not look like a BigR Walt Disney. Your picture does not look like the vendor picture to me, but SPS identification with frags is difficult if not impossible without viewing the coral skeleton under a microscope. That being said, I'm sorry to say that I still do not think that you got an actual BigR Walt Disney.

That does not look like a true WD to me. It's a very nice Tenuis though.

I would have given up by now if I were you, or at least ditched any of the vendors who sold you these true big r pieces. I would love to see a pic of that one under whiter light though, looks nice.
On a side note, I can’t wait til a different coral species becomes popular.

I have to mention that Walt Disney arrived at my house shortly before she died. it was completely faded and shows no polyps. slowly comes blue, green, pink and yellow.

All those corals that I could see are maricultured on that site. So unless they have tank raised corals somewhere on there none of those acros are a true Walt Disney. Some nice corals on that site though.
