Hi All,

I moved all of my fish in QT a week ago and slowly rose Cupramine over 3 days but for at least 3 full days it has been at .5

Why would my clown not be eating, flashing and breaking out into even more spots? The copperband butterfly had spots that are almost all gone now.

Any thoughts of action are welcome!

Thanks,

Nate

Have you treated for anything besides ich? This spot above the eye is definitely not Ich. I’d try metro as well.

Thank you both!

I can do a FW dip on him just need to make the water and heat a bit.

If I’m dealing with brook, I’m dealing with brook and ich. Should I continue the Cupramine and finish treatment for the other fish and just do baths on the clown for now?

I’m worried now the other fish are going to get brook as well.

Also yes - they have been through two rounds of prazi.

Just performed a 5 min freshwater bath. He did fine in it. Will this buy me a couple weeks or just days? I’m hoping to finish the copper treatment first and then can treat with metro?

Probably just days. Did you see any flukes during the FW dip?

You can safely combine copper + metro.

If you have brook I think treating that first would be best as it kills faster I’m sure someone else will chime in with more advice.

No flukes unless they were clear. I didn’t expect it after two rounds of prazi but I know some skin flukes survive that. I’ll go to the LFS tomorrow and start metro. Oh this hobby...

If you can’t find metroplex then General Cure should work just as well. More stores seem to carry API stuff.

Well behaviorally, he has improvement today which is good. Not just hovering over the pvc but swimming with his mate.

However after the bath I noticed his fins are frayed. Is this another symptom of brook?

Thanks in advance!

Probably brook: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/brooklynella.247938/

Copper will oftentimes suppress, but not completely eliminate, Brooklynella.

You'll want to add metronidazole: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/metronidazole.298762/

I just added metroplex in conjunction with cupramine. LFS had metroplex and general cute but they’ve already had prazi so I figured metroplex was the better option. I added 3 level scoops per the directions for a 29g tank and will repeat until gone. Do you suggest continuing this for a bit after symptoms disappear? If so how long?

Thanks again!

Continue treatment for 10 days.
