A360X questions

I fly a Kessil AP700 / T5 hybird / over that tank, with two AP700's

Something like the Aquatic life T5 hybird.

JMO... :)

Okay so I have a Reefer 750 and am looking at the lighting. I am looking at the Kessil A360X does anyone have them and what is your opinion on them. I am looking at putting 4 of them over my tank.
I have one. It’s good.

I'm jealous....but I love my 3 x A360we ,s ....
Same here. My main has 2 360we’s aquatic life hybrid 48. It’s sweet. Now my nano has the X on it. Down the road I’ll get another X to put on my main 90/115

I just got 4 of them in yesterday they are awesome! I have them over a 220 that’s 6’x2’ and they def cover the enclosure I may upgrade to a hybrid t5 down the road but for a mixed reef they are killer lights huuuge upgrade and well worth it

The color on the 360x is great, they have all the pros of the original tuna blues with the ability to add violet, red and green which really make your corals pop. I’m comparing mine side by side with my Orphek altlantik and they are very similar

I guess the question is if these lights give off one of the most even spread and spectrum of light in the led market why do you need to hybrid with t5 is it mostly appearance or for spread and spectrum

It's usually cheaper to toss some T5s in there than it is to add additional LEDs. For my setup, three Kessils wasnt an option because the tank had a center brace; T5s were the easy solution to provide additional light when I went SPS dominant.

Yea I have that annoying center piece in my 220 oceanic it’s a pain In the acro because it fills the lights In the middle ...that’s a little reef humor we like to have fun here

Just be prepared for the T5s to dull the crisp beautiful light of the Kessil with a blanket of flat fluorescent light. Plus you go from sleek minimal form factor, to big bulky contraption, unless you have a canopy of course.

I have the older A360we version, which I like. I was not the impressed with the newer model when it came out from the reviews that I saw. However, when I actually saw the newer A360x in the store the other day, I changed my opinion. The light is beautiful both physically and in the actual light it puts out. The addition of the extra color channels is nice, especially the violet channels (really makes a difference). The light isn't a power house of course, but it gives great shimmer, color blending, and even distribution. If you have higher light intensity needs, supplement with T5s or just plan on buying enough pucks to give adequate overlaps in your tank.

I have two 72” orbit pros should I hand them in the top of the canopy I wish I could post pictures so I could show you

On a 750, you'll probably want to run five (or even six) unless you go with a hybrid of some sort. This will also depend on what you're wanting in regard to corals as well.

5 or six seems way over kill. Why so many.?

that seems over kill, would three not be enough

Depends on the corals you're trying to keep. I have two A360WEs over my 75g and needed three to keep acroporas (the canopy and the center brace on the tank precluded me from running three so I had to go hybrid). You have roughly twice as much area to illuminate so you'll need roughly twice as many arrays to do it. This isn't a linear exchange though, as the tank gets deeper and wider, it requires even more arrays. You can mitigate some of the lighting requirements by getting creative with the rock work and placement of corals but then you're potentially compromising a desired look.

If you want a full sps tank you probably will want to mount the kessils 2 deep as well to cover the full 24”’s of the tank to eliminate shadowing. The T5’s will also help with this or other options like the orphek OR lightbars if you want to stay with led’s

Most people would say you need 3 radions xr30’s on a 6’ tank. Since the 360x is basically half of a xr30 I would say you want a minimum of 6 on a RSR 750. People put a lot more than 3 on that size tank for dense sps tanks though and they mount them front to back.
