I recently purchased an AI Prime HD and have it configured for the AB+ settings from the BRSTv episode on the AI Prime. I’ve also read the Ecotech CoralLabs article on reef wholesale and their use of the AB+ schedule.

Something I found interesting is the amount of PAR they’re targeting for LPS. 40-75 PAR for LPS. I know the light demands are much lower for LPS but am curious what everyone is targeting for these lower light demanding corals. I’ve had decent success with my chalices at around 50 PAR but have never really tried anything else for fear of bleaching a piece.

I’ve compared the lower light Saxby schedule and the AB+ and they’re quite different with a difference in UV intensity. It’s too early for me to see results but have read positive reviews of each schedule.

I’ve read Dana’s work on light intensity for SPS but haven’t seen anything for LPS. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I do not know anything about the Prime, but LPS can do OK under 100. They also can do Ok with many times more than this. I keep chalices and gold hammer in my frag tank under 400+ PAR and they grow like crazy and really shine.

I would consider 75 the bare minimum and not ideal. I would be around 150+ for ideal, but that is just me.

IMO, you are right to try and look past a Manufacturer sponsored "article" to find info... they are not always right.

If you look in the main hydra settings thread we have a years worth of sps AB+ discussions and results posted with similar programs on the hd series lights. As for the Brs AB+ it will work just fine as it’s uv/v/rb/b to cw ratio is around 80/20 and it hits the target power consumption of 29-30 watts on a prime hd for tanks 20” deep or less.

If 150 PAR is ideal, and I'm currently putting 75 PAR on them now, do they need to be slowly acclimated up to 150 PAR?

If I put my lobos, wilsoni, or a handful of other lps under 150 par they’d be pretty ticked at me.

Lps vary greatly with their light demands and tolerance, treat each lps coral individually.

Wrong thread :/ sorry
