Since I turned my remote fuge into a rock nem / non photo coral tank it gets over fed a bit. That with the fact its not a waste removal tank any more I have a good crop of hair algae on my back two display tank panels.
I was thinking of getting both of these for fun and for work.
Forget dosing or cleaning off the panels. This is an opportunity for some fun.
Will they both climb the glass?
What is the life span of both?
Big ones or little ones?
Who has the best supply?
Any other keepers?

Cheers

I’ve kept abalone a few times. They’re one of the few that I just can’t keep for some reason. I usually get the big ones (half a tennis ball-sized). They will clean the glass and actually clean well. But they always seemed lazy to me at times and hung out the rocks. Also scared anytime I got around the tank. This is the hardest invert I’ve ever kept.

I got mine from local fisherman straight from the sea.

I almost got a Dolabella Sea Hare from saltwaterfish.com but I was afraid that it might starve since I don't have an algae problem. They look cool though and I might still try one eventually. If you get one, let us know how it works out. Supposedly, one Dolabella can eradicate the algae in a 125 gallon tank in just two weeks.

I brought one home today, acclimated it and waiting to see how it does. I’m hopeful it will eat all the vine algae that exploded in my tank. He is super cute and hope he gets happy eating once he settles. My tank is 75 gallons, 5 years old with live rock, but I’m always learning as I try to keep corals and fish happy.[/QUOTE]

Dollobella sea hares are amazing algae eaters, I would highly recommend them! Just remember to supplement them with nori after the hair algae is gone.
What size is the tank?

No hair algae in this tank. I have the green vine algae. He seems to be moving all around the tank. Tested the water this morning and my Mag is low @ 1110. Keeping a watch on him so I can take him back to the store if he starts looking bad. Never had one before but would really like him to eat the green vines!
