abit of help

hey guys new to R2R and was just seeking abit of advice i've recently brought a marine tank of ebay it comes with everything besides a skimmer can i set this up yet? the lady has got it set up for hermit crabs with live rock and live sand but as a novice is it a good idea to run without a skimmer plus if i can what will i need to get to run it the day i bring it home, many thanks

What size tank is it?

hello, its around 250 liters i think

So around 66 US gallons, I would add a skimmer before putting much in it.

would i be able to still use it just for the crabs as it is? or will this be abit risky also what will i have to buy to run it at my house or shall i try and get the water out the tank aswell? thanks.

It will be fine for hermit's but when you start adding stuff you'll need one. Do you have an RO/DI filter?

urm I dont think it comes with one? isn't that a device for making pure water?

Yes, do you have a local fish store near you that you can get water from?

yeah i have a local store i get my tropcial water from, do i have to get that and add a mixture of salt?

Ya you don't need a skimmer until you get a few fish in the tank.

Yes you'll need to go and talk to them, buy some salt and a refractometer. Artificial Salt Water needs a specific gravity of about 1.025 to sustain marine life.
