About my Radion leds gen 4 need help

am having problems with my radions gen 4

all the blue levels are 100 precent

whites are at 40% green is at 20% red is at 20%

all my perimeters are good and ever sense i got these leds i have seen lots of brown red and green algae growth is there anything i can do about it i was told it might be the red and green leds causing it and my brightness is at 70 % was told i should have my brightness around 55-60 %

i have mostly spa corals any help would be appreciate. Thanks

any help or any new radion settings would be appreciated for no algae growth

Hello,

I’m not an expert on this light but I wouldn’t have my green and red leds that High. You do need some but most of the time it’s around 10% or lower. It could also be water parameters and do you have a uv sterilizer. It definitely helps with controlling of alage.

How old is your tank, and I would suggest turning your whites down quite a bit. Conduct a water test and see where your parameters are with that, and as well use a par meter to see where your at and him you have hot spots.

if i do 10% red 10% green and 100% on all 3 blue settings and 60 precent brightness it give me a 20k look and intensity 39% is that good

tank is 5 years old and i do use uv sterilizers and water parameters are the best its been in a long time little to no phosphates and no nitrates i had no algae problems untill i added the lights ok so tell me what levels of white red and green i should have it at then

may be have white to 25% and red 10% and geen 10% and blues 100% and my brightness set to 65 and intensity is 39

Hello,

So the lights will vary upon coral and the look varies greatly to the owner. What I may find beautiful you may think is a tragedy lol. Generally, most follow the ab+ light schedule which honestly with out looking it up I have no idea. But with my lights, I luckily don’t have green so I am at zero and the red or magenta aka I can control with the cool whites and mine is at 44% but my tank is 34 Inches tall so need some to hit the sand bed.

I personally would run maybe 0-5% Red and green, if you have access to a par meter than adjust your whites based on that. Most run blues at 100% but have seen whites all over the place. What kind of coral do you have?

It is not the lights. If you have too few consumers and too many building blocks to grow algae with the levels at 40%, then they will grow at 5% too, or even with just blues. Old bulbs, white/red/green diodes, etc. are all red herrings for other issues that cause algae growth. Most successful tanks have enough light and building blocks to grow algae, they just have enough consumers to eat the algae.

Keep in mind that if you limit the algae growth in the tank with chemicals, media or lights, you will also limit it in the corals... all ships are lower at low tide, not just the ones that you like.

^^^^^^ Not the lights. I run my radions at 100% on all channels and don't have algae growth.

I have the radions G4 on couple tanks and played a bit with different settings. Im still a MH person so tweaked them a bit to get a whiter light during most of the time im watching the tank and then i get the blue light phase for the pop effect everyone has. The presets that are available in ecosmart live are good i particularly like the AB + and modified it to have 3 hours with 100 percent on all channels and then follow the preset with a bit prolonged time on the blues at a lower setting as thats a personal preference . Every tank is different and the number of lights u have over the tank dimension and the height they are at plays a big role on how high u can go without bleaching ur corals. Slow acclimation and keeping a close watch is key.
I still believe u have a nutrient issue as older lights (halides and T5s) had red in them and people typically didnt struggle with algae growths. I and ithers run lughts at high red and green without algae except when nutrients are high. This has been my experience with Radions. I have also ran older lights like orpheks where V1 and V2 had considerable red (v1 was more like a candy store light) i never ran them more than 10 percent red when i had algae and it didnt make a difference. When my nutrient issues were cobtrolled ans wanted the most light for better growth i went as high as 50 percebt red without algae growth... One other factor to consider as a more blue spectrum with less red and green might make ur corals pop and color up a bit more.
