I know copper is a big no no in most instances with a reef tank, but I've got my eye on a big blue 55g that comes with a brass spigot. Think that would hurt the water? Would it leach enough to cause an issue?

The plan is to take the RO DI water to a couple of 32g containers (all plastic) and then using the barrel to mix salt and add to the DT for initial fill and water changes.

Thoughts?

No metal fittings after the rodi unit, better safe than sorry. Can you swap out another spigot?

Better safe than sorry was the side I was leaning on. I reckon I will pick up a big blue and put some plastic pieces in it.

Brass can leach copper into the water, too. If it's the same barrel I found on google, the spigot simply screws into a threaded socket in the barrel. Just swap it out for a PVC valve and be done with it.

I assume it is. Big blue 55g with to spigot placements. My dumb took over and didn't think I could switch until I looked again and saw it had two placements.

Ordering now.
