I would like to reach out to others who have purchased an Abyzz pump. I purchased the A200 for the head pressure as I have a basement sump with a number of 90 degree elbows to reach the Display. When I turned the pump to 85% I noticed the inlet created a small vortex and that created micro bubbles in the Display.

I dropped the power to 75% to stop the vortex, but the GPH dropped below 400 which I felt I needed to run through the UV sterilizer. The sump water level is at 7".

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

In the instructions ‘somewhere‘ it mentions it’s more efficient if there is a straight piece of pipe work feeding the pump

So here’s mine, a200, which basically has a 50mm socket on the inlet, and I run it at 86% which is about at the top of the power band graph

This should hopefully help, otherwise you may need to increase the sump depth a little, mine is around 9 inches

On my RD3-230, I slipped a downturned elbow on the intake. The pump is only about 2/3 submerged and I have no issues with a vortex even at 100%. It might be worth exploring for like $5.

Thank you both for your input. I think the extension for the output will be the first thing I try. I remember that one tip was to have 20mm (about 8") free distance from the output to a sump wall.

Can you post a pic? I also have the A200 in my basement but only run it about 78%. My sump depth in the return section is about 8" (where the ATO kicks in)

You could make a ‘cowel’ for the input. I did this for the suction side of my closed loop because it was too close to the tank surface and periodically sucked in air. Worked perfectly.

I used the input disc that came with the pump, slipped it over the intake and was able to keep up the flow without any micro bubbles in the display. I ordered some metric pipe to extend the input out a few inches. Also it is 20cm not 20mm.

Thanks,
Bill
