Hi, I have been running a DIY chiller for almost two years, it worked great until it rusted to bits recently. So I got a replacement window AC and had the coil installed on the new (2nd hand unit) although the new unit works it takes a whole lot longer to chill.
Both units were/are 1 ton LG, I have the old compressor stashed as it's in working condition.
I think the back pressure is higher in the new unit, the technician had mentioned the capillary could be the issue, but didn't seem interested in swapping it out and suggested I try it first. Is fitting a less restrictive capillary an option?
The other difference is that on the old unit we had removed the control panel and PCB, he hadn't removed it this time, could this be a problem also? And how can I bypass it?
What about swapping out the compressor? no idea what brand the new one is, the old one is Hitachi and performance was excellent.
