Oh and I have roughly 10 acan colonies in my sps reef. Sps like dirtier water then people think and they do just fine.

Reminder everyone, keep it civil. This is a family friendly forum. Rudeness, and profanity will not be tolerated. Thanks and have a nice day :)

I'd be more worried about the zoas smothering the acans. Acans can destroy other corals like stones, etc, so it's good practice to have space in between.
I agree lol. I kinda have them so over grown I honestly could care less. I cant keep up with the fragging lol.

Trying to help or argue semantics? I have plenty of knowledge of coral biology and corals in general. I suggest you take your own advise but I'm sure you're a typical millenial reefer know it all with a ton of mushroom and zoa knowledge
I will not tolerate insults ok. Your a new member, I'd suggest reading the rules you agreed to when joining

Eventually that cyphastrea can be a problem. Not sure who would win. Cyphastrea grew quick in our reef tank. Typically I gave micromussa there own island or there own rock where other corals could not grow next to them.

Okay thanks my son bought both of those for me for Father’s Day. I don’t know much about either one of those so I thought I better ask lol. When my 75 build is done a lot of stuff will get moved.

That's awesome, what a nice father's day gift. Both of the corals look great.

The aggressive type of Acanthastrea is not Acanthastrea lordhowensis but Acanthastrea echinata, the one that frequently has the patchy colors with orange and grey or green you see on the photograph just above. This one I have seen digesting a neighbouring A. lordhowensis in a distance of about 10 cm/4 inches with its mesenterial filaments.

A. lordhowensis, the one with the beautiful regular color patterns, seems to be absolutely harmless. I keep a lot of A. lordhowensis in touch to each other and also in close proximity to other SPS and LPS and they are the least aggressive corals I know. It is much more likely that they are hurt by the other corals than vice versa.
