Acan and trumpet feeding

Do i have to feed these guys? Or can they grow just from the light? Its a bit of a pain to keep turning pumps off.

Acans benefit from feeding meaty foods (e.g., mysis, LRS, etc.) a couple times a week. I have no experience with trumpets.

Both will benefit greatly from feeding, and I would highly recommend it.

Both will grow way faster if you feed them. I just feed mine frozen raw shrimp that I cut up into small chunks. My kryptonite trumpet went from 2 heads to about 20-25 in a year with weekly feedings.

You don't "have" too but they will benefit. I like to feed our LPS and every time food hits the water they respond now. You can keep your power heads on while turning the return pump off so you can broadcast feed. That might be easier. I'd recommend feeding.

Short answer is that you in no way need to feed either. With that being said, if you want to take the time to feed them they will benefit and should grow faster as a result. Both are prettt easy to keep. I find that my acans will eat just about anything and my trumpets are harder to get a feeding response during daylight hours so I hardly ever directly feed them. My acans are down stream from my food defroster so they get leftovers every time I feed my fish rods food.

I have only fed my trumpet coral a handful of times. I got it as one head about 3 years ago, it is a ball of about 100 heads now. I really only see the tentacles out for feeding when all the lights are off, and I'm not getting up a second time to feed just them.

Trumpets will eat in the daytime when their tentacles are not out. If you get a piece of food near it’s mouths it will teadily take it, at least mine does.
