I bought a stunning colour acan a while ago but now the colours are not as good as they first were. Are there any suggestions on how to get the colours back with certain foods or additives?

What kind of lights are you using and what kind of placement are you keeping the acans, near the top or bottom?

Low par around 100-150. Problem is unless these have been aquacultered... Many acans morph. Many times u'll see the acans in a colony that are on the bottoms under other polyps are rainbow, but the ones getting all the light are solid colors. This is bc the ones on bottom are being shaded. Place in shade area and some color might come back. I feed fauna marine pellets and powder to them.

Atm I only have a tmc uk nano tank with 4 white and 1 blue l.e.d. Im currently cycling a new tank that is an ai sol unit. I have noticed that the lower polyps seem to have more colour until the stick out into the light. The acan is on the floor and the light is roughly 12" away from the bottom.

In my experience acans really color better under lower light. I had some acans turn on me under LEDs also so I went back with t5s. Will be trying LEDs again soon but a different brand this time. I would try to get them in the shade or the far edges away from the direct light and see how they do.

Ok once they go into the new tank I will put them at the bottom under a ledge and see how they get on. Thanks for the advice.

I have raised my mag level with tech M to 1500 to get rid of some bryopsis and my acans have really colored up. Not sure if works on all tanks but it worked on mine.
