I've discovered that my fiery depths acan devours bloodworms like nothing else I've ever tried feeding it. Should I worry about feeding it mysis or brine shrimp, or some other food, or is it okay to just give it the worms? I know fish need variety...

Basically, the question is do photosynthetic LPS really need a varied diet, or is it just supplemental anyway because they get most of their food from the light?

I think occasional supplemental feeding is a good idea, but COMPLETELY unnecessary unless your lighting is severely lacking..I get great growth on softies, lps, sps and I only feed my corals once every 6mo or less...

I don't think it needs to be varied at all..

I love feeding it XD if a coral could ever go 'om nom nom' this would be it. Trying not to go overboard but it's tough, lol.

LOL it is pretty cool seeing them eat.. Going to imagine them saying omnomnom next time I feed them lol

I'm using reef roids and shrimp. Can you feed them crayons?

+1 to adding oyster feast and phyto feats I do this everyday with the return shut off while the lights are off! All pumps on feed mode and the corals eat that stuff up! Ive been doing this for two weeks now and my colors, my growth has all seem to be positively effected! I will start a new thread of the progression once it is easily noticeable.

I feed acans reef nutrition ROE, live brine, mysis, guppies, fish pellets, ..as long as it's protein...I find when I keep them well fed they show a lot more puffiness and feeding tentacles are always out, sign of a happy acan
