Acan Echinata bailout?

This thing has been in my tank for over a year murdering everything it comes close too. It's tripled in size. This past week I see it's flesh has almost completely detached from it's skeleton. It's still colorful but all the meat is just barely hanging on. Is it a goner at this point?
