Acan Echinata dying?

Hasn't opened for feeding. No change for 2 days at bottom, low light, low flow area. Trying top of rocks with high flow today.

Fwiw, my rainbow echinata likes the light. I would gradually move it into some light...not right up to the top of the rocks in one day but a couple inches, give it a day and see if it starts to react. Abrupt frequent changes in light and flow will kill it for sure.

What did you try to feed it with? Mine doesn't do well with larger food but always responds to smaller particles. If you're using frozen fish food try chopping it up really fine, turn off the pumps and very gently squirt it toward the coral with a turkey baster or similar. If your fish or inverts steal the food cut the end of a 2 liter coke bottle off and cover the coral for protection.

Lost cause? Should I discard? It never once opened up. Its so sad. :(

Firstly welcome to r2r!!

It's not dead yet. Long as you see the color there is a chance. DO NOT discard it. I've had a coral with a spec of live tissue (little bigger than an eraser on a pencil) and it came back fully. Why did you move it? It looked much better I the first photo. Have you done the water test yet?

Moved it many times trying to see if itd bounce back or any changes. Water tests all perfect. Mag n cal perfect. Add reef fuel. No eating or movement. Dont know where to put it next as ive tried all spots. :/

Need to leave it alone. You won't see a change right away. I know it's had to but that's what hurts the coral. It needs not to be handled. Just a little moving can stress it and make it worse.

It's only been 12 days since you for posted so you aren't giving it time. Nothing happens quick in this hobby. If you try to rush only bad things can happen.

Think I should keep in sand? In shade? High light? High or low flow? [emoji54]

That depends on a couple factors. Height of tank, type of light.. my acans are directly under my lights on my sand 24" below my light.. Medium flow.

For me medium light and medium flow work.

I think the key for this one is going to be to pick a spot and leave it alone for a while. It could be that you've just been changing things up too much.

Just don't give up. It takes much time to get things going great. My tank has been going for about 6 years and I've lost many things getting to where I am now.

You will get it.
