Hi feller reefer,

I bought a new acan echinata and it doesn’t look healthy as it’s skeleton come out. I received this a bit beaten up from an online aquarium supplier. The coral was upside down and carbon all over it. The coral produced something which you can see in one of the uploaded pictures. I’m wondering if it will recover. We’ve had it 4 days. Any ideas please?

It looks fine to me, echinatas can be very aggressive, it sends really close to that anemone? (Not totally sure what it's next to)

Thanks for that. It’s next to a mushroom

Nice hammers by the way

Yep, looks ok overall. The mushroom is almost certainly going to die if left there.

Give it time but keep that thing isolated and away from everything mine is the meanest coral in the tank

Looks okay; hopefully will color up a bit as it adjusts.
Agree with above, keep echinatas well away from other corals (but they can be kept with each other.)
They can reach out with mesenterial filaments and dissolve corals within hours.
If the other coral is light and not attached to anything, the echinata can actually drag it closer.
Doubt the echinata will hurt the anemone though; nem vs coral battles, anemone almost always wins.

Thank you for all the helpful information. I will rearrange where they live :)
