I bought my first acan 6 months ago. It just sprouted a new head! Now I bought another larger frag yesterday. I'm wanting to start an acan garden. can they be close to each other? are lords, echinata, and bowerbanki all ok to place near one another?

Post pics of your acans.

Acans can be pretty close together as long at they do not overlap on each other it should be ok

I was told u can keep lords with lords and enchinatas with enchinata. I hear enchinatas r very aggressive and u should leave a lot of room between them and any other coral that's not an echinata. Personally I have both of them and they don't seem that aggressive maybe I got lucky. I was geting really good growth when I had them under t5 I now switched to LED and they r still adjusting so I can't say yay or nay on led. One lord grew 15 new heads in one month. I keep mine in high- medium light and just enough flow to make them wiggle and dance alittle. Back then I was spot feeding them every other day/ every day. I also have some blastos 2 inches from my lords and they do fine for now. I still want to move them away.

Lords together, yes. Echinata next to a lord, probably no. They may have short tenticles but they can eject their stomachs onto another coral and digest them. Just be careful and keep some lugols handy.

ejecting their stomachs to eat another coral sounds awesome (as long as it doesn't happen to mine)

Every one is just waking up so they r puffy and not fully out I'll try to make more pics later.

As u can see in my pics. My echanata so siting less then an inch from some plating SPS and less then two inches from my birds nest sps. They have been together for about two months now and havnt hurt no one YET!! I still wouldn't take the risk of ur not ok with loosing some sps. The SPS is happy in high light high flow and so is my acans so why mess this them.

I feed mine a mix of different things, like fauna marin pellets mixed with rotifers and a few chunks of shrimp

I feed mine what ever I have laying around. Mysis is always in my fridge. I used robs foods. Iv feed them chucks of uncooked chicken and shrimp. Mine also like shrimp pellets and flake food. Mine pretty much eat anything that passes there way. I do a large Broadcast feeding once a week and try to spot feed every other week. Other wise mine get left overs from my fish.

Hi guys
Heres my echinata spitting its guts over a patch of zoa
Zoas are still alive with just a few dead right next to the echinata
The Zoas are growing new heads fast but on the other side to the echinata ....... Looks like they are making a fast get away lol
