Hi all. Thanks for reading

My Acan coral frag somehow fell on to my green hammer sometime during the day and when I came home and pulled it off the one polyp seemsed to be all stringy and gooey. Do you think the hammer stung it very badly? And do you also think my Acan will recover? I have great water quality and the two out of the 3 heads are still healthy.

Hopefully the two remaining heads will be fine, do you have a pic please?
You could do an Iodine dip just in case.

I just had the same problem. Over the night a snail or something pushed my acan into my platygyra. The head that got stung died off about 90%. I had no idea it was throwing tentacles as long as the frag itself at night

Hey thanks for the replies. But i think the acan is done for. its been a few days and from what i can tell the mouths on all 3 heards are gone. But the one head is completely gone. The outer ring on the 2 that are left still look healthy. Its such a shame. Was a nice looking coral and my first acan lol

Don't give up, pop them somewhere safe, this lobo had some mouths removed by a fish about a year ago. :)

Ya I'm gonna just leave it be and see what happens over time. Hopefully at least one head stays alive and then maybe after a while it will start to grow again. I'll keep up on parameters and testing and try to keep the water the best I can make it. I'd like to get more. They're such nice looking corals.

Let us know how it goes.

Just returning on this thread. It seems my acan is recovering. Its not quite fully inflated as it used to be but i can see new growth around the damaged area. And I can also see about 3 new heads forming. Tough little coral. Its crazy to see the damage a hammer coral can really do in such a short time.

I know it’s been a while, how’s it looking now? Just had a 100$/head acan fall into a chalice. Not looking good, but this is giving me hope.
