I bought a frag of an Acan Lord about +1 month and it was initially receding. Now its doing great and expanding over its own rock on the plug.
My question is, the head is bigger than its own rock now and its leaning on the live rock I placed the plug into.
Will the head attach itself to my bigger piece of live rock and start growing and expanding there?
That would be cool.

Acans send in heads along the perimeter of existing heads. There is generally on healthy acans flesh around the existing skeleton. The skin basically holds the head onto the skeleton. This skin area is where new heads will appear. The only way new heads will separate from mother skeleton is if it is fragged.

Booo....
Ok well i will keep an eye for new heads.

I have been pretty impressed with my coral activity in my tank lately.
1 of my hammers has grown split 2 more new heads, 1 of my frogs is in the middle of splitting 2 new heads as well.
my 1 blasto head expands pretty big on her stem
my acans from receding are now expanding over their skeleton
my lobo split a new head
my favia frag looks like it grew upwards towards the light, no visual side growth though. ( my blue face nips it here and there )
Things are happening here, its exciting, lol

I have had them grow beyond the diameter of the frag disc and start depositing growth onto the glass bottom of my tank (for those on the bottom) and others that attached to live rock. They produce calcium endoskeletons and will use existing substrate for formation if not disturbed.
