I have a bunch of Acan's, starting a garden of them. One is on a separate rock and not looking as good as the others. All of them except this specimen open large during the day and are growing new heads often. This one doesn't open often and the last few days I have noticed something growing on or out of it. When I touch the growth it pulled back almost as if it was a coral as well. Can anyone tell me what this may be? Posted are my latest test results and livestock list. thanks for the help!

Tank: 25 Gallon IM Lagoon AIO (19 gals water)(dry rock, aragonite bed)
Temp: 77F
Alk: 9dkh
Nitrate: 0.1 (sometimes 0, hard to keep here)
Phosphate: 0.02 (also sometime 0 but not as hard to keep up a little)
Salinity: 1.025

Livestock:
2 orange storm clowns
1 starry blenny
1 six line butt (I mean wrasse)
1 royal gramma
1 shark nose goby
1 fire shrimp
1 fighting conch
5 trocus snail
5 nasarius snails
1 tuxedo urchin
30 head duncan
8 acans
1 alveopora

The pic doesn’t really look like it....but I was thinking barnacle from your description. Is it like a feathery hand per chance? If so, they can irritate the coral. They usually don’t kill it, but aren’t good for it either.

It's not a feather like object. It's more like a bubble or cyst looking thing. If it were on it's own on a frag plug I might think it was a baby bounce mushroom. I was thinking on getting out the Dremel and fragging the coral to remove that spot.

Thanks, that does look very similar to what the other post has. Only one theory that it's caused by light burn and no one else knows. Awesome to have something unique, as long as it's not a parasite or disease. Guess I'll leave it be for now and see what happens.

I had an acan bounce a lot of years back,it was pretty cool.
