I've noticed since moving my acans over to my new tank a few of them have seem extra puffed up and the stalk of the head seems to be stretched out/extended. Should I be worried? I have never seem them do this befor . I'll try to get pictures tomorrow.

bump

pics? Sometimes they do a polyp bailout. In my experience it happens when they do something similar to what you are saying.

I will get a pic today when I get of work.

And Jimbo662 it is a new light, went from a reefbreeders value fixture to a kessil A160.

Do you feed them? Feeding helps I find... I find my acans really benefit from some kind of amino acid supplement. Not to push a product but I add coral frenzy once a week.

I feed them mysis or LRS Reef Frenzy about every other day (they just get the let over food when i take out too much)

It's almost always because of lighting every acan I've ever seen in lower light will do this. Higher flow will stop it to a point but more light should cause less stretching.

Thats what I thought, I was trying to slowly acclimate them to my new light, should I just jump up to normal settings?

I think starting with lower light and moving up is always a better idea than starting with too much so I wouldn't give them too much too fast. Too much light will bleach them but too little will just make them stretch and darken a little.

Ok, then i'll just let my light finish out its acclimation mode (5 days left)

Good to hear! I was worried for a bit

I've had a ultra rainbow acan that is always super puffy stretched out cone shape. It's growing seems to be doing good and new growth is present. I suppose it's happy
