Hello all!
Background:
I just bought a beautiful rainbow acan, along with many other pieces-all LPS.
My tank was high alk and low nutrient, it shocked all of the leptos and cyphastreas.
Now, I have higher nutrients (15 nitrate) and "normal" alk (9ish).
I noticed last night that my two acans, one being the rainbow, lost flesh from two baby heads forming around the major one. The skeleton is still there but all the flesh from the baby heads are gone :'(
Has anyone had this happen? Ive been feeding Rods food and cyclopeeze alternating daily. I have also been feeding 2x per week of reef roids to the bleached small polyp lps.
Im at a loss of what it could be, my two other acans havent had their "feelers" out as often as they had when I had high alk although they are slowly working back to normal.
Please help!
After my recent 3 gal change (of the 25 gallon) my parameters:
ammonia-0
nitrate-15
calcium-490
alk-9.2
mag-1580 (working on coming down from unsuccessfully treating bryopsis).
The way I was getting my alk down was slowly doing water changes. It was at 11.8 and now its down to 9.2 over the course of 1.5 weeks.
I feel like Im killing my favorite corals
