Not familiar with what an ato isDo you have an ato
Ive been feeding them every other day and i currently have a bangai cardinal and a coral beauty angelfish im not sure if the angelfish is the causeDo you have any fish nipping at them? When I got my first couple frags of Acans they looked like that. Turns out it was my Flame Angle picking at them. So I took the fish back to the LFS and my Acans have been growing a lot. Also feed them at least twice a week. Acans are always hungry.
Well i believe my nitrates were at 0 because before they were really high and they were killing everything so i got sponges and nitrate remover and a 25% water changeI personally think that you need more nitrate.

I feel like my lighting is too strong? I have a 160w maxspect 420r but the max is 35 whites 45 bluesI'm not a water chemistry expert, but I have ten or so acan frags growing out at the moment that are all doing fairly well. I keep my nutrients a tad higher (2.5-5ish ppm nitrates) and alk lower (7.5-8dkh).
It might not have anything to do with why they are receding, but I figured I would throw it out there for comparison purposes.
They also do surprisingly well in pretty direct light. Mine are getting around 200 par on the rock I have them on (bottom of tank, but off the sand)
You could try maybe spot feeding them to see if it helps coax them out. I wouldn't go overboard though, since digesting food takes a lot of energy as well.
How long did it take for them to drop? How high were theymWell i believe my nitrates were at 0 because before they were really high and they were killing everything so i got sponges and nitrate remover and a 25% water change
Oh yeah i dontAuto top off
Ive been wanting to sell him or get him out kf the tank but im not sure how to catch himThe angelfish could very possibly be nipping them. Maybe you could try putting him in a time-out (in a sump or acclimation box) and see if the acans start to bounce back?
But, I do agree you should have SOME nitrate. Not high, but detectable. It's a tight rope, for sure.
I used a nitrate remover sponge which also removes nitrites and ammonia and also got seachem de nitrate remover which also removes organicsWhat did you use for nitrate remover?
