Picked this guy up last week.... What type of acan is it ?

TBH Acans are hard to keep track with "name" since they tend to morph depending on your light. Most vendors that name acans do it for the "hype" or extra $$$.... Shots fired! I like people who just classify them by grades A, B, C and your +++ , ultras, and rainbows...... and by rainbow it better have legit rainbow colors not just 2 or 3 shades of the same orange.

Acan lords were reclassified as micromussa lordhowensis 2 years ago. They aren't acans at all (anymore).

It's a lord and as for its "name", it looks like a candy cane

It’s a lord and a nice colony. I have one that is very similar. The orange and blue seem to be a more common coloration. The uniform striping is less common. I’ve seen mine have orange, green, blue, and pink centers at times. I don’t consider it a rainbow though.

Thanks! They are really hardy with good water and they will feed like a pig. When I got this colony it had broken off a much larger colony. The polyps receded around the whole piece showing skeleton. It took a couple months to regrow. I made a small mistake not laying it flat on my rocks and at least half the underside is covered in heads but gets no light.

Wish my tank was bigger...lol I have too much traffic and not enough sandbed otherwise that’s where I would prefer to keep the acans.

I know everyone says lower light but that colony is at the top of my tank getting blasted by a Radion g4.

I have a small frag further up, I think they are pretty adaptable!

Got mine glued down this week. Wondering if the acan will kill that rodactis shroom behind it. I had that shroom frag in another rock and it spread to the rock so I moved it to this now spot a week before I got the acan.. if it does I don’t mind so much as I have 5 other shrooms on the old rock.

Probably won’t, I don’t think lords are aggressive, at least I haven’t seen any aggression from mine yet.

Just keep an eye on it...watch for aggession but from my experience, neither are agressive
