My reef is almost 2 years old and I've had my lovely Acan in for 6 months or so, a couple days ago I noticed the polyps did not fully inflate. I decided to give it a couple of days before I did anything. Today they are not looking any better (or worse). Any suggestions?

Alk: 8.7-9.0
Calcium: 440-460
Temp: 78
Salinity: 1.0245
Lighting: 6-bulb T5 (bulbs @ 4 months)
Flow: Gyre doing 10% > 50% random pulses

For what it's worth, I add a small bit of kalk with manually added top off water; nothing too extreme.

Has your ALk fluctuated much recently? Could you MAG be low? Have you tried spot feeding?

I have not tried spot feeding, I don't feel that the coral would randomly decide to reject the normal delivery method. I'll check mag in a second.

Mine do that every once in a while. They be done it for a long time randomly. They will come back in a couple of days

Those are spitting image of how mine look every now and then. Sometimes they just have a bad day or three lol

My acans do this to. Some days they look the best they ever have. Other days they look like that. I'm never too worried as they always come back around.

Something about my flow, water and lighting make a Acans do poorly and blastos sitting next to them look awesome.

Nitrate level? Phosphate level? Alk swing, as mentioned above? Stirred up the sand bed near the colony? Can that coral to the left touch them with sweeper tentacles, possibly at night?
