I know acans are traditionally a lower light coral, however I've been seeing this trend of blasting them with light in order to increase/retain color. I recently bought a really nice rainbow variety and I was wondering what kind of lighting I should be giving this thing in order to keep its intense colors?

Moderate lighting and water flow and occasional feeding makes them happy.
Mid to lower third of tank seems to be best location

My Acan. I dunno which variety but 2 photos under lights on and off. Moderate-low light place.

There is a debate. Most rainbows seem to have the best color under T5s. I had some rainbows and I let a buddy hold them he has led t5 combo. He pulled very nice colors within a few months.

Thats interesting. Too bad I run LEDs. This is making me want to switch to hybrids even more.

IME, they retain color better in lower light, especially the rainbows. When you blast them with light, they typically just turn orange.
Hmm, thats interesting. I any I put in lower lighting end up looking darker red. I see a lot of videos(especially on Instagram) where people seem to keep them under higher par.

I just got an acan the other day. It came from a system with LED only. This is day 1 in my tank.

This is day 2. I run a T5/LED hybrid and keep it at the bottom. So far it seems happier right away.
