So I'm new to Acans. Well, I'm new to reefing in general. Currently I have what I suspect are four different Acan Lords in my tank, as pictured. I acquired the first three pieces maybe a week or two ago, and the fourth Rainbow Acan I've had for maybe 1-2 months. The Rainbow Acan behaves a lot differently than the others. Almost within 24 hours of its arrival in my tank, it was fluffed up with tentacles extended all day and into the evening. It eats Mysis eagerly within maybe 5-10 minutes. Awesome piece that made me fall in love with Acans right away.
Now the first three pictured Acans, however, have been different. Tentacles are not extended at all, except at night. Even then, the tentacles are much shorter, if at all visible. These Acans also do not have much of a feeding response at all... one of them did eat some mysis but it was very slow to do so, without any tentacle extension. That took probably 30 minutes in total.
So my question is this: are these just different types of Acans? Or is the Rainbow Acan just more healthy? Do these newer pieces just need time to acclimate? Or is this type of behavior just the way some behave? I was under the impression these were all Acan Lords and expected similar behavior from all of them...
Input welcome
