Acan lord happy or angry?

So I've had a two head acan lord frag for probably 6 months now. The two large heads never seem to fully open like I see in other tanks. However it is sprouting new heads all over the exposed skeleton where it was fragged. So with so much new growth is it ticked off or happy where it is?

For me it seems to be irritated.
These may be irritants in my opinion:
1-Low Fe/I -other corals bail or not grow at all (but this is definetely not your case)
2-Low PO4
3-Low NO3
4-Low Salinity -> low Mg/Ca
5-Too high light (over 150par)
6-High amounts of pests
7-This is rare aswell but bacterial issues, mostly infection. In this case they melt away, and should be dipped.
Sometimes the skeleton turns red/pink (not cyano! if you can blow it off it is cyano or dino)

Take a look at 2-5, those are the likeliest issues.

This is a healthy head:

-Acan skin is always gray (if you can see it)
-A healthy acan is always puffy

This is dieing:

White skeleton usually means fresh death, since algae did not have the chance to grow there.
But as you can see in the 2nd it's green, which means that the parts died off a week or 2 ago.

Agree with the above. It does not look happy. I have quite a few scans and they’re happy when they are fluffy.

I think I see bubble algae? Not sure what those little bubbles are, I can't see clear enough. But they seem to be bothering the acan flesh. The acan is receded, and algae starting to grow on the skeleton.

Have a look and see if you can brush those bubbles off with a toothbrush or something, maybe try dipping it.

I just wanted to come back and thank everyone for the help and suggestions. I took the acan off the rock and put it on a frag plug. I treated the algae that was noticed with a peroxide dip and also notices a couple of small vermitid snails growing on the skeleton. So I believe that was also a major contributor to the irritation. I've since gotten 15 bumble bee snails to stay ahead of the issue. Today the acan is more open than its been since I got it so I think I'm on the right track. Thanks again guys.
