My acans have began to loose tissue. The one in the back is doing fine with no tissue lose. The green one has a little lost. And the other one has lost alot of tissue, almost the whole frag is gone. Params are fine, and no swings that I can think of. My fungia plate just recently lost all tissue and died. I then moved the acans into the spot that the plate was at. Is tissue necrosis an infection that can get into the water column or does it only affect 1 coral at a time? I am also dealing with cyano, and it is trying to grow on the acans

I had this happen a few months ago to a Zoa and Candy Cane. I tried dipping them again etc. Nothing helped. Since then, got a skimmer and Media Reactor. We hot another Acan and Hammer and doing great.

I have the Acan on the left side of tank near the corner with a moderate flow and not too bright of lights We use Reef Roids and Fuel.

What are the phosphates at?

Phosphates are undetectable, not saying their isn't any, but phosphate is not high. No angelfish, just a coral banded shrimp. My plate didn't start losing tissue until I put him in, but the acans were in there for a while with no tissue loss. Then all a sudden it is rapid

There you go:) phosphate need to be between .02 and .03. It is very important to have phosphates and nitrate is the system for the corals to survive and feed. Feed, feed, feed. Run some seeded bio meda in you sump to keep the nitrates under control when you are feeding like crazy to to the phosphates up;)

I'm testing with an api test kit, so not very accurrate. I use salifet for cal, alk, mag. I have a fluval 13.5. So it had a built in sump in the side of the tank. How do you reccomend running bio media in there?

is there any space that you could add the media?

Your fluval should have come with a three tier sponge with biomedia in it. My wife had the same tank, acans and nems did very well once established. All I did was do 5 gallon weekly water changes.

I thought about doing an in tank media basket for my sump

I feel your new Addition is probably your real issue, once your shrimp got rid of the plate it moved on to something else. Definately bump up the phosphates but keep a close eye on that shrimp as well;Cyclops
