Hey all,

I bought a bunch of Acans from All Delight about a year ago and have a few from my old tank. Most of them haven't grown much at all. I use LEDs, they are near the sand bed in my 210. I have moderate flow around them. I dont feed them at all really. I have some LPS/Coral foods I could feed them just haven't done so consistently at all. The colors have held up for the most part and they look nice, just super slow to no growth.

What are your tips for healthy growth and optimum coloration?

For me feeding is the key for growth. Mysis is what I feed 2x a week. Other than that I haven't found anything that impacts growth or color dramatically.

What about LPS food or coral food? Ive inconsistently fed reefroids, coral chili and those LPS pellets mixed in together.

feeding is very helpful in them growing new heads/polyps.They usually grow faster on a flat surface or on rockwork.

I haven't had luck with pellets. I don't like reef roids much as I feel it adds lots of nutrients into the water. I target feed mysis and it seems to reduce the amount of waste.

Ill start using the mysis. When you say you havent had luck with pellets, what do you mean? Hard to feed? Minimal growth?

Find them hard to feed and didn't get the response from corals. When I feed mysis they extend feeders and grab. With pellets sometimes it won't react at all. No noticeable growth as well.

Interesting. Ive got a few colonies that have grown well until they got to the edge of their plug or rock and that transition to the completely flat live rock has haulted the growth. Do they have a gard time growing around turns?

I feed my daily and acans are my best growers!

Just finished feeding my acans a slurry of mysis, brine, reef roids, LPS pellets, reef chili etc and they loved it, even in the day time. Fish are pestering them a bit but I got them fat first. Will start feeding more and see what happens

+1 on the mysis didn't see growth until I started feeding. I feed when the clear tentacles are extended usually during the day.
