Acan pest?

Can any tell me what the white thing is in the Centre of the red Orange acan is ? Could it be one of them star fish pest ?

From the pic it looks like mesenterial filament. The colony doesn't look in good shape with the receding. IME recession like that on an acan colony was chemistry related like alk swings.

Nope there in great shape !! That' why I asked and the dead parts are from sweepers tenticalcs from a torch coral that iv moved now as it was originally in a nano tank ! Its normally out showing grate color and feed tentacles out fully

I test ALK every day just so we know It's not an ALK swing

I think it might be where a hermit crab has been on there ? The white thing is shrinking now on the acan

Happy acans look like this... big and fluffy pillows. Not tightly tucked into their skeletons. Yours do not look happy at all. I'd test water and probably do a water change.

What were saying is that from that pic the colony doesn't look happy. Not sure what's caught in the acans mouth, could be food.

I just wanted to make sure it' not a pest or a astrai star fish ? Coz when I got some sps there was one on the coral ! I was going to pull the coral out and have a look but I just wanted to ask before I did , any way the white thing is almost gone now which makes me think it' where a hermit crab has gone on there and ticked it off lol

It was getting stung for about 6 months in a nano tank because I placed it to close to other Lps coral but now it's in my new tank its been moved

Wow, stung for 6 months and it's still alive? I'd say it's going to take some time to recover. Make sure all other corals are a good distance away except other acans. They can touch and be ok. Euphillia will most deffinatly kill an acan colony.

Its surprising how far the sweeper tenticalcs can go lol but yes there is loads of room now in my new tank so plenty of growing room in here

Im keeping the ALK closer to 7 and my tank is looking great
