Two days ago I finally got my new LED fixture up and running. I was just curious about where to now place my Acan piece now that I have some serious light action. I have three pics. First one is without the blues turned off.

The last picture is my tank layout for now.

How deep is your tank? I have mine pretty much on the sand of my nano ~17" from water and my XR15 is ~ 9" above water. They're growing like crazy.

Haha sorry. Guess tank size and depth would be helpful. I have a 24 gallon all in on fluval. It's the M60. From tank top to the sand is 15 inches. My light is 7 inches from the water.

And a side note, I read somewhere that if sand gets in the Acan skeleton it can cause heads to die off? Not sure where I read that. So I have been trying to avoid straight to the sand.

Mine aren't on the sand per se', but they are close. I bought them about 10 months ago and there was only 2 polyps on each colony. Now there's about 25, if not more.
Love the tank! Thanks for the visual as well. So based on your experience I should be doing alright with my guys parked where they are at?

I would just keep an eye on them, if the light is too intense the colors will wash out a bit, however will return if moved to a slightly more shaded location. You can always glue the colony to a piece of rubble that when buried places the colony just off the sand if you are concerned.

Okay thanks. I'm only concerned because of what I read somewhere. If no one else has come across that happening then I'm all for the sandbed.

the main thing you will want to ensure that sand inst getting blown on top of the polyps themselves. IF they are getting buried constantly by flow or animals moving sand that will irritate them.

Thanks! It's almost a year old, and getting ready to move into a 120 from a 28.... It's super addicting!

Tell me about it! I'm a week into cycling my first tank and already dreaming big! ;)
