I had 3 small colonies of Acans. Grew them all from 1-3 polyps to 7-10. One is about 1.5 years. Other two are about 8 months old in my tank. They were all growing quite well. Have not moved them at all. Haven't changed anything. Lights, Flow, feed them 1-2 times a week. I do a 20-30% water change either every week or every two weeks. Neo Marine Salt. AI Prime set to the AB+ spectrum from BRS and have been running that for probably 6-8 months.
Anyways.
One by one. The heads started popping off one colony. Then another. Then another. Now the other colonies started doing it as well. The two that i have left still look big. Eat well. They are getting about 170 par at peak, and about 140 at the low. When I feed both of these corals I see that the flesh is no longer in between the heads like it once was. Just like the first colony that has left me.
Parameters are pretty consistent.
Alk = 7.6
Cal = 425
Mag = 1450
Salinity = 34.8
N03 = 3
P04 = .05
I dont know why this is happening. I don't think it is two much flow. I don't think it is to little light. I run Carbon sometimes. I have two clowns and a cleaner shrimp.
