What would cause an acan to recede from the outer edges? Is there any specific or would it be an endless possibility?

What are your cal, alk and mag levels? Also how much do they swing when doing water changes? What is your p04 levels and nitrate levels? What kind of lights do you run? How long do you run them? To many things could be going on to tell you.

Currently at work but I will post the params when I'm home. It's 20 gallon. Led lights with 10 hour duration. The acans have been fine for months. Nothing specials has changed. I have a snowflake clown and a firefish. Some snails and blue leg

Salinity stays 1.024/1.025. Most acans are thriving well while a couple are struggling. I target feed a few times a week. Temp 75.
Alc 8.6
Mag 1440
Ca- 415

What about nitrate nitrite ammonia and phosphates? Also what are your levels before water change and what are they say a couple hours after a water change?

75 is ok I run mine there in the winter to stop heater from coming on all the time. What is your P04 and nitrate levels at? Also how much does your alk cal and mag swing from day to day and from water changes if you do them.

I appologize for the late response, I had the water tested yesterday and I was the the po4 and nitrate were very minimal or (fine). I test the alk every other day and it seems to stay within a narrow range. As well as the Ca and mag. I've started checking those before, and a little after water changes to see if there is a swing.

Acans like others needs a form of no3 and po4
Now po4 should be slight in numbers

From my impression, the po4 and no3 seemed to be at a healthy level. Perhaps I should test myself. I have about 30 different types of zoanthids that are thriving and growing extremely well. Just a few of the acans are bothered or affected by what ever is going on. It's tough to deal with because some of the acans I've had for a while, and are not the cheapest.
