Acan skeleton alive?

Thanks in advance... had some peppermints eat my acans bare, the 1 is making a come back in just 2 weeks. The other not so much. I have not lost hope as the other is obviously working out. Just curious, can a bare skeleton remain alive and potentially produce polyps or is polyp tissue needed?

Once tissue is gone from Micromussa skeletons it cannot regrow like some other species. If some remains it could potentially recover, but the chance is slim.
