There appears to be a little head sprouting off my Acan. It doesn’t seem to be attached to the skeleton at all though. Will it eventually droop down and encrust to the rock?

Regardless of the outcome, cool.
really hope it encrusts to the rock. i’ve seen LPS propagate by head splitting, growing the skeleton, but never by bursting a new head from a head. This will be the first time an LPS has grown enough for me to have it encrust to a rock. Hoping for the best!

Generally they just get bigger sprouting heads all around as they grow. Are you sure it's not attached?
it looks like it’s just floating but perhaps cherry corals are very meticulous fraggers
