I got and Acan "frag" today. Well it use to be a colony but they guys tank crash. The colony was about 3" or 4" before the crash. Now it is a skelaton with 2 polyps left. The polyps are on the opposite side of the colony. Do I leave the old skelaton there and left the acan regor over it or cut the polyps off and place them on a flat disk? Will the acan regrow over the old skelaton? Will it grow fast if I cut the polyps off?

I would leave it and put it out of sight for awhile. In my experience, acan heads start popping out of the skeleton and grow faster than if they have to actually regrow the skeleton again.

Awesome I actually have it in the corner of my tank sitting by a rock. Blends in nicly so it will not stick out like a sore thumb. Also the lighting is a little lower over there. Lets see what happens. I might have to take like monthly pics to show progress .

If the die-off is old and stopped then I agree- don't frag it for a while and allow it to acclimate to the new tank,
However if the die-off is fresh- I would suggest fragging- or at the very least a good coral dip.(you prob already did the dip) just covering the bases.

Die off is old. Skelaton is not longer white. It has been sitting up at my LFS for 2 months now. It was just sitting in the back of a frag tank. The guy I know up there said I am the only one who ever asked about it. But I am cheap and always look for a challange. I use to know a guy at a store that is now closed. He use to bag up all the loose polyps laying on the sand and give them to me so he did not have to glue them to disk or plugs.

I would cut it off. Nothing worse than looking at a dead looking coral..

I don't think a small trim would hurt. just so it looks cleaner. if you use a decent saw (like inland) fragging through already dead skeleton shouldnt stress the coral too much.
