Like all above an acan lord. They can get very large under low nutrient water, that is low light and flow. They puff out is their way of getting food from light source. Medium light and higher nutrients will cause them to be less inflated. Since food source is more abundant.

low light and flow? its at the top of my tank in a basket right by the return and my wave maker... 400+ Par at top of my tank.
Another Acan in the basket looks normal... the green one i posted for sale..

Is it bad for them to be fully inflated like that? Mine is as well and I took it as a sign of health.

As stated earlier, they inflate when they are relying on Photosynthesis to feed... it increases surface area :)

I'm suprised it's doing well under that much light. Acans are usually a low light coral placed on the sand bed or in the lower half of the tank.

The acan must be some what new to that spot. If left there it will more than likely die. They require low to medium light.
