Acans have become more affordable as they are now bread and butter class rather than a jewel

That's a really pretty one. At one point a few years ago, Acan lords (now Micromussa lordhowensis) were the 'in coral.' It seems like these things go in cycles. Euphyllia, of all things, seems to be hot in the last year or so, which seems crazy to me.

Acans are pretty easy to grow and frag too.

Price is so hard to nail down. It's so regional. Maybe 5-10 bucks a head? But maybe more, since it's more of a 'rainbow' type?

LPS folks might give you a better idea in that forum, compared to here in the SPS forum.

acans haven’t been hot for like 10 years...

sure, there have been a couple like holy grails, solar flare and killshots that have popped up here and there and commanded high prices in between those 10 years.

but the craze (or lack thereof) died back in the days of highlighters, neptunes and yukis.

i think this is due to the introduction of high power led’s around 2011-12...
acan’s super intricate colors and patterns fade away under these types of lights and just become solid orange or red.

this maybe accelerated the decline in interest?

people want to maintain the colors they pay top dollar for,
and acans have unjustly garnered the reputation as corals that will fade over time...
which simply isn’t true with the proper lighting.

... that said, t5’s for the win.
