Alright guys, i need help im pulling my hair out.
I will start with my parameters
Temp-78
Salinity-1.024
Alk- 7.6 consistently
Cal- 444 consistently
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- .25
nitrate 50
phosphate- .235

The bad, yes i know my phosphate and nitrate are high. May this be the problem i dont know probably.

So like stated in the title my acans are deflated they look like poop, they get fed twice a week. I have had two trachyphyllia also almost die before i had moved them to a different tank they are doing better. My acans and trachyphyllia were never moved and were doing good, allways happy and in the past two weeks they have went downhill. I have a bunch of other lps in the tank, scolys, lobos, hammers, torches, bubble corals, echinata, you name it. They are all doing perfectly fine happy as can be. Can anyone tell me whats going on?? I also an having some trouble with sps polyp extension. I dose 15ml of red sea ab+ daily. This may be the cause of my higher nitrate and phos come to think of it. Please drop a comment and let me know what you think and if you have made it this far thankyou.

Picture ?

Nitrites being at .25 may be a little concerning. If nothing else has changed, I would look into getting your Nitrites down, followed by the N03 and P04.

Nitrites should be at 0 ppm. The fact that your are registering Nitrites means your N03 is off because in the presence of Nitrites, N03 will be affected. Therefore your reading of 50 ppm N03 is probably wrong.

Hopefully that is the case.

I am a sucker for nice fully opened acans, LOL!!!

I am not sure about the accuracy of a Salifert kit for Nitrites. They seem to be great or bust on kits. I use Red Sea for my Nitrites and N03. I use a Hanna ULR for P04.

I always say, when in doubt, double check with another name brand kit, as long as it doesn't cost a fortune, LOL!!!

That is the million dollar question. I have found that acans can be a little temperamental. I recently went thru a partial crash, loosing several sps frags and a few lps frags, including a few acans, BUT, I also have a few more acans that didn't have a care in the world to what happened.

In case your wondering what caused the partial crash, it was me adding a Sulfer Denitrator, and it dumping Nitrites into my tank causing a N03 spike.

I think that Akana is one of the most tender LPS. They serve as an indicator for me. They are the first to respond to changes in the system. I have the same light and flow pumps. I would work with the flow. And what are your light settings?
