Hey guys, trying to decide what to do here and starting to panic a little lol. In my DT i have more than a dozen high end acans that are being terrorized by something that im yet to figure out (leaning toward a filefish i cant seem to catch, a couple emeralds i got to try to pick off some bubble algae, or possibly a clown that i also cant catch that loves rubbing down and trying to host anything on the sandbed, already have lost 2 scolys and a few acans to him). Every acan i have is totally closed up and have been for almost a week and starting to lose flesh.

So i am trying to decide on taking the chance on moving them to a frag tank that is halfway through being cycled. Doing a fishless ammonia adding cycle and its at the point of high nitrite, so its still ongoing. I am worried im going to lose my acans so i really want to move them over until i find the ****** thats irritating them. Could this be very detrimental to my acans moving them in during a cycle? Any thought on this?

Putting them in water that is nitrite rich will kill them.

Do you have a container you can place over them to protect them?
Like a plastic or acrylic box with slits for water movement?

I've had to do that in the past.

Or do you have an acclimation box?

I had a CBB did same thing developed a taste for acans built plastic cages to put over them until I could catch him, don't think I would risk moving the acans to an uncycled tank. Here is a pic of what I made he couldn't get to the acans with the cages over them. Cages are out of the tank now caught my CBB but keep the cages I made never know if I get another fish that likes

hmm no i dont. Im so worried about then Im almost tempted to take a plastic tote with fresh saltwater and put a heater and a powerhead in it and try to seperate them. They havent been open for probably a full week now and just seem to sink further into the skeleton.

Oo man i do like that idea. Ive got eggcrate down here i can try to make something up. These fish and stuff are the only thing i can think of causing this. Going to do another round of testing but earlier this week i didnt find anything off. Im baffled

Egg crate and zip ties is all I used

I'd run up to petsmart or whatever fish store and buy an acclimation box of some kind. If you don't have one near by go to lowes and build one from egg crate.

Sounds good, ill have to cobble something up. Thanks for the advice guys
